Wedding season is in full swing and although we absolutely love all of the fall weddings we are currently seeing, we know a lot of you have an upcoming winter wedding! With this, we have rounded up a few tips for you to make sure you are well-prepared and ready to have the best day possibly!
Make Sure You Have Something to Cover Up
During winter weddings, its inevitable that it’s going to be cold. Unless your wedding dress has fluffy sleeves, you are more than likely going to need something to cover you up and keep you warm! In addition to yourself, you need to make sure your bridesmaids are also taken care of! You don’t want them to be freezing either, so we suggest looking into matching jackets or shawls.
Skincare is Key
Since your wedding will be during winter time, that means that your skin is going to take a bigger hit. If you have a drier skin type, make sure you have a good moisturizer and other skincare products. For brides will an oilier skin type, you’ll want to make sure you exfoliate before the big day! However, make sure to use products that you know work. It is best to stray away from items you haven’t used in case you have a reaction to the product (yikes).
Suit Up
You want to make sure you two aren’t freezing up at the altar, so preparing for the weather and planning ahead can definitely benefit you! We suggest that if your dress is long enough for, add a pair of tights underneath that add an extra layer for warmth. For grooms, we suggest layering with thermal clothing under their tuxes. A smart tip is to add some hand warmers into the pockets of the suit or if you have closed toe shoes, add in a foot warmer into your shoes! Bundle up wherever you can so you can be warm and cozy and enjoy this magical day!
Prep for Photos
Winter weddings make some of the dreamiest photos, but it comes with some preparation! Make sure to get with your photographer if snow is in the forecast on your special day. They will help plan out what poses will be best to do in order to work around the snow in order to create those magical shots! If the weather restricts any outside photos from occurring, also make sure you and your photographer have a backup plan.
Long Travel Times
If things are running a bit behind, don’t overthink it! Some guests may end up showing up late if there is inclement weather, so accounting for longer travel times may be in your best interest. Make sure to set up a meeting with the wedding planner or venue manager to plan for any and all options to make sure you are fully prepared for whatever may happen!
Offer Something Cozy to Your Guests
Weather your venue has the ability to start a bonfire, star up a fireplace, or even placing out blankets and hand warmers, make sure their are options for your guests to warm up! After all, you don’t want your guests walking around cold. They are their to celebrate you two and have a great time, so make sure to add them into the equation when preparing for the cold.
Don’t Freak Out
No matter the weather, all that matters at the end of the day is the love between you two and the commitment you are making to each other. Everything will happen as it should and getting upset or freaking out about the weather won’t make it any better. Embrace what comes your way, plan ahead, and enjoy every second of your magical day!
